About the Farm
In 2000, Gerald Thibodeaux started Gerald's Tree Farm. Now, Fifteen years later, the farm has grown to containing a large inventory of trees. Gerald is certified by the Louisiana Nursery and Landscape Association. With the many years of care that Gerald and his staff have spent to care for each tree, it's no wonder that his trees will be a part of your landscape for years to come.
At Gerald’s Tree Farm we have thousands of trees to choose from and all of our trees are guaranteed to have been well grown with recognized landscape and nursery trade tolerances.
The reason our trees grow so quickly and survive so well is the way they are grown in the container. No matter how carefully grown or how cautiously dug, a field grown tree will have a large portion of its root system left in the ground. A field grown tree can only be uprooted and transplanted in certain times of the year when the tree is dormant. A container grown tree can be planted year round because you do not have to cut the root system. Because of our container system, the tree has its entire root mass intact so that as soon as it is planted it can grow and thrive.
We grow our trees in state of the art containers that are specially designed to aid in root growth and development. The containers have specially designed root directors to prevent root circling. They also contain unique air vents for root pruning and ample draining of the water.
We use a custom designed irrigation and fertilization system to care for our trees. We water and fertilize our trees in zones, metering everything to make sure that our trees get the exact amount of moisture and nutrients needed for maximum growing potential. We also closely monitor and adjust the PH level of our water to make sure to maintain the perfect balance required for the health of the trees.
We prune our trees to allow for even sunlight distribution. Optimal growth is achieved when the entire tree can receive equal amounts of sunlight. Pruning also allows us to give the tree a more uniformed look to produce the desired shape of the tree.
